Oh boy… this is going to be an action packed weekend. Lots of stuff is on the horizon, including a little road trip for a photo assignment. These next few days are going to be an endurance test because, well, there will be some late nights involved.
Let’s take a look at what’s happening this particular weekend.

Saturn Birmingham in Birmingham, Alabama will be the place to be on Friday night as the one and only Man Or Astro-Man? will be performing. Their shows are always incredibly popular in Birmingham, and this one should be no different. It’s actually somewhat of a warm-up for a show the band is playing in Nashville on Saturday as part of the “Record Store Day” festivities in that city.
On top of Man Or Astro-Man headlining, there will be three other bands on the bill. Black Hole Kids, FAD, and All People will also be performing. More information on what should be a crazy good show can be found by visiting http://www.saturnbirmingham.com/event/1142795-man-or-astro-man-birmingham/.

Saturday is Record Store Day across the country, and Seasick Records will be hosting events all throughout the day to celebrate. A slew of local bands will be performing and, if that’s your cup of tea, check out more information at http://www.seasickbham.com/events/2016/4/16/record-store-day-2016.
I’ll probably be skipping that to rest up for an event later in the evening. I’ll be checking out DIY Birmingham’s prom event, which will be taking place at the Spring Street Firehouse. Yes, it’s an excuse for a bunch of people to dress up and get wild. How can you go wrong with that?
There is also a masquerade theme so, well, a certain masked luchador might be making an appearance to spice up the party.
If you’re feeling like partying with a bunch of people in a prom setting inside an old firehouse, you can check out more information at https://www.facebook.com/events/753118081485367/.

After a busy Friday and Saturday, I’m hitting the road and driving to Atlanta. Amon Amarth will be performing at The Tabernacle, and I’ll be photographing the show. I’ve covered the band once before, but I’m hoping this time they’ll have their full on viking ship set piece on stage. I mean viking ships always add that much more to the visual presentation of any band.
I always love doing shows in Atlanta because it’s fun to get on the road and shoot in a different city. The local photographers there are also wonderful to work with, and I enjoy getting to catch up with them when I’m over there.
If you’re feeling like a road trip and want to see what should be a hard hitting show, check out more information at http://concerts.livenation.com/event/0E005035B1636919?_ga=1.174532898.1406592224.1455484247
That’s the weekend for me. Did I miss something I should be aware of to the point of checking it out? If so, send it my way!
