What a difference a week makes. Last weekend, I didn’t have anything on the agenda, other than actual work assignments. This weekend, though, there are lots of events that I’m looking forward to, and, well, they mostly all revolve around the fact it’s Wrestlemania Weekend.
Yup… this is one of my favorite weekends of the year, and the fun isn’t just contained to Sunday.
Let’s jump right into the agenda…
Friday, April 1st, 2016
I don’t have a show or wedding event to cover tonight, and that is by design. The big thing I’m looking forward to is, well, staying at home, drinking a few Coors Lights, and watching the NXT: Takeover event from Dallas, Texas.
The fun starts at 9:00 P.M. on the WWE Network, and it features a card that is absolutely loaded. Finn Balor headlines against Samoa Joe, Bayley has to deal with the instant death known as Asuka, and Sami Zayn goes up against Shinsuke Nakamura.
I’m still in awe that we’re actually getting a match featuring Sami Zayn and Shinsuke Nakamura on WWE television. It’s wild.
The rest of the card is equally stacked, and, on paper, it’s the best offering the WWE will have this weekend. I’m going to enjoy the hell out of this one.
Because the show starts at 9:00 P.M. central time, I plan on getting a bite to eat somewhere in Avondale (MELT or Fancy’s) and then stopping in at Saturn Birmingham to see, and maybe shoot, a little bit of the Happenin Fest kick-off event. You can find out more about that by visiting https://www.facebook.com/events/220998138234364/.
I was also going to try and get in a viewing of “Everybody Wants Some”, but, hey, it’s not showing anywhere in Birmingham. Fail. Major major fail.

In terms of Wrestlemania events, Saturday is the day of the Hall of Fame Ceremony. A lot of people roll their eyes at this one because of some of the entries, but I’ve always been a fan of it. I’m not sure if I’m going to watch it live, though. This is one where I could skip out on it as it’s happening and wouldn’t be disappointed.
I’ll probably check out the Solid Gold dance party Saturn Birmingham is hosting. It sounds like a lot of fun, and it’ll give me the chance to, once again, photograph a dance party setting, which is something I did way back in the day.

Sunday’s the big day, y’all. It’s Wrestlemania Sunday, and that’s about the only thing I have planned for that day. You might even get a special match run down story right here on Live and Groove. I know you all are excited about that potential.
Seriously, though, the event will start at 4:00 P.M. central time and run all the way past 10:00 P.M., when you factor in the pre-show matches and any overrun the show might have. It’s going to be an incredibly long one, but, it’s Wrestlemania. It’s not like I’m going to be doing anything else while it’s happening.
That’s the weekend for me. Did I miss something I should be aware of to the point of checking it out? If so, send it my way!
