Welcome to this week’s edition of “The Weekend Agenda” on “Live and Groove”! There’s a lot happening this weekend so let’s go ahead and jump right into things…
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 19th, 2016
I’m actually pulling double duty for the first time in a long time this evening. The evening will be starting at Iron City as Corey Smith will be performing in front of a sold out audience. As soon as I finish there, I’m hopping in the car and making a breakneck pace to Avondale so I can get to Saturn Birmingham for The Sun Ra Arkestra’s performance. Both events will be fantastic, but I’m really looking forward to finally seeing The Sun Arkestra perform. It should be a special evening, and I’m even more excited about getting to do a few promotional photos for the band before the show.
This is going to be one of those nights where I will absolutely lose it if schedules and timelines don’t go exactly as planned… so I’m expecting that to absolutely happen. It’s only fitting.
Will I be doing anything after those shows?
Yeah, I’ll be driving home as quickly as possible to begin editing and transmitting two jobs. That should be a hoot.
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 20th, 2016
Saturday is the day people will gather at Egan’s Bar in the middle of the afternoon and wreck their intestines! That’s right… it’s the day of the 2016 Asses of Fire Chili Cook-Off! I’m part of the group that put the event together so I’m super excited and super anxious about it turning out well. I’ll be a ball of nerves until the conclusion of things because, well, that’s just me.
We’ll be accepting entries between 2:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M. with judging and public tasting taking place shortly after 4. It is free to enter a chili into the competition, but it will cost $5 to taste the entries. Prizes will be given out to 1st, 2nd, and 3.
The weather will be fantastic and things start directly after the Alabama vs. Mississippi State basketball game in Tuscaloosa so it should be a great Saturday in the Druid City.
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 21st, 2016
I don’t have anything planned “outside of the house” so Sunday will be a great time for me to work on photos from the weekend, catch up on some rest, maybe watch the Daytona 500, and then settle in for the WWE’s “Fastlane” PPV. I’m rather looking forward to this Sunday of doing very little and then really kicking off the “Road to Wrestlemania” in style. I know my Twitter followers will love the robust number of wrestling tweets this Sunday evening.
I do hope you caught the sarcasm in that last statement.
That’s my weekend in a nutshell… did I miss anything worth checking out? If so, send it my way and I’ll give it a look.
